Safety & Use

Chemical Data Sheet

Treatment:

  1. Determine the Correct Dosage:

Check the product label for the recommended dosage based on your hot tub’s water capacity. Typically, 1-2 Bromine Tablets are needed per 1000L of water.
  2. Use a Floating Dispenser or Bromine Feeder:

Place the required number of Bromine Tablets into a floating dispenser or automatic bromine feeder. These devices ensure a slow, controlled release of bromine into the water, providing consistent sanitation.
  3. Adjust the Dispenser:

Set the floating dispenser or bromine feeder to the appropriate level to match your hot tub’s size and water volume. The dispenser should be kept in the hot tub while the water is circulating for best results.
  4. Turn on the Pump:

Turn on the hot tub’s pump and circulation system to help disperse the bromine evenly throughout the water. This ensures proper distribution and effective sanitation.
  5. Check Bromine Levels:

After 1-2 hours of use, test the free bromine levels using testing strips. The ideal bromine level is typically between 3-5 ppm (parts per million). Adjust the dispenser settings if necessary to maintain proper bromine levels.
  6. Replenish Tablets as Needed:

Check the bromine tablets regularly and replace them as needed, based on water usage and the number of tablets remaining in the dispenser. Typically, check and replenish tablets once a week or after heavy use.
  7. Wait Before Using the Hot Tub:

After adding the tablets and adjusting the dispenser, wait at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before using the hot tub to ensure proper bromine distribution and effective sanitization.

Storage and Handling:

  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.

  • Keep out of reach of children to ensure safety.

  • Avoid contact with eyes, skin, or clothing. In case of contact, rinse immediately with water.

  • Always wear protective gloves, clothing, eye protection, and face protection when handling the product to prevent exposure.

FAQs

What are Bromine Tablets?

Bromine Tablets are slow-dissolving sanitisers used to kill bacteria, control algae, and maintain clean water in pools and spas. They offer stable, long-lasting sanitation, especially in warm water.

What are the advantages of using bromine instead of chlorine?
  • Less odor than chlorine

  • Remains effective over a wider pH range

  • Creates fewer byproduct irritants

  • Tablets dissolve steadily for consistent sanitation

Can I use Bromine Tablets in both pools and spas?

Yes—though bromine is especially well-suited for hot tubs and spas due to its stability in high temperatures.

How often should I shock my hot tub?

Shock weekly or after heavy use. Shocking converts bromamines (spent bromine) back into active bromine and helps maintain water clarity.

Is bromine affected by sunlight?

Yes—bromine breaks down in sunlight faster than chlorine. For outdoor pools, bromine use can be less efficient unless stabilised with a cover or regular dosing.

Can Bromine Tablets irritate skin or eyes?

When used properly, bromine is generally gentle on skin and eyes. Irritation typically occurs when levels are too high, too low, or when pH is unbalanced.

How should I store Bromine Tablets?

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, and shaded area. Keep the container tightly sealed. Do not store near chlorine, acids, or organic materials.

How long after adding bromine can I use my hot tub?

You can enter the water once bromine levels are within the safe range:

  • 3–6 ppm for spas

What is the shelf life?

Generally 2–3 years when stored properly. Tablets should remain dry and intact for optimal performance.
