Edd and Phyliss’s 50th wedding anniversary was meant to be marked with a special trip abroad. But as Phyliss’s health began to decline with her developing Alzheimer’s, their plans shifted to something closer to home. Instead of the original holiday, they booked a weekend getaway in Derbyshire with family members from Caerphilly.
The lodge they stayed at had a hot tub, and it was here that they discovered something special. Phyliss felt relaxed and comfortable in the soothing warmth and bubbles, and Edd saw the joy it brought her. Reflecting on this experience, Edd remarked, “We knew this was what we wanted to make us feel a lot better.” In a heartfelt decision, they decided to forgo their long-planned trip and instead bring the relaxation home, turning a “holiday of a lifetime” into “a holiday for a lifetime.”
Now, with their own hot tub, they share peaceful moments that bring calm, comfort, and precious togetherness. For Edd, who lovingly cares for Phyliss, these quiet times are a sanctuary, a space where they can unwind, reminiscing on their fifty years of love and devotion. Their story shows how love endures and finds new ways to flourish even through life’s changes, creating meaningful moments from the simplest things.
Their remarkable story was recognized with a well-deserved Finalist at the 2025 British Pool and Hot Tub Awards in the Hot Tubs Change Lives category, highlighting how hot tubs are more than a luxury—they are powerful tools for health, wellness, and improving quality of life. Edd & Phyliss's experience shows that even in the face of overwhelming challenges, love, resilience, and determination can create a haven of healing, joy, and well-being.
